Aerospace Innovation Center Update

With our merger with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, our 2009 program budget and operating plan is being reviewed. Funding will still come from the OneGeorgia Authority through Georgia Fiscal Year 2009, as far as we understand. As part of our integration with a gubernatorial cabinet department (looking ahead to future budget years), the Center is developing plans for a host institution and will lead a re-look and “midcourse” evaluation of our program. Under the strategic industries planning framework established in 2003 by the Commission for a New Georgia, the Georgia Department of Economic Development will focus attention on the key factors that ensure a growing aerospace industry in Georgia. Companies who participated in the 2005 aerospace technical advisory group to the Commission understand the kind of process we will be undertaking, with a vision for Georgia Aerospace in the year 2020.
