ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Georgia is a global aerospace hub, with over 83,000 employed by over 500 firms performing all facets of aerospace manufacturing, maintenance and overhaul, and electronics systems design, development, test and support for customers and programs from throughout the world.

The Aerospace Innovation Center is deployed on three fronts that interact and support each other: Applied Research and Development, Education and Workforce Development, and Companies and Capital Development.

Applied Research & Development. We work with companies and the academic institutions throughout our state to speed technology insertion efforts support customers' needs, either by harnessing federal R&D funds, raising investment capital, or by making direct state investments that close the business case for a promising new technology or process improvement. By focusing on Georgia's aerospace supply chain, we bring work home and improve our state's aerospace "exports" to customers throughout the nation.

Education and Workforce Development. We work with industry to identify skills shortages before they happen and react to emerging demands for training and skills development, including leveraging aerospace education programs that enrich the K-12 curriculum and inspire Georgia youth to stay in school, study science, technology, engineering, and math, and pursue exciting careers in Georgia's booming aerospace industry.

Companies and Capital Development. We work with Georgia's powerful county economic development authorities, chambers of commerce, and community leaders to bring new, complimentary aerospace employers and aerospace programs to Georgia. With our in-depth knowledge of aerospace programs and system requirements, we are able to target the best opportunities for our state, support prospects' training needs, and utilize specific incentives that "close the sale," creating new high-paying jobs for Georgians.
